	By us you will find still original atmosphere of the country-village, the real peace with Finnish hospitality. Niva-village is located in a beautiful peninsular between two big lakes. Through the village runs three well-known fishing rapids. It´s here, where Veikko Huovinen wrote his first book "Havukka-ahon ajattelija", which tells about a deep-thinking lumberjack, a book familiar to all the Finns. By us you will find following services:

	Our offering consists of cosy apartments in the sentimental Niva-House, formerly a village school house, located by Lake Iivantiira, in the middle of our lively village. The following apartments are available:

First of all: Relax and listen to the Silence! Even in the middle of our light summer nights, experience the silence. In the course of time you´ll find other leasure programs available:

Fishing		Niva village may turn you into real fisherman - In our village you can try your luck of fishing: you´ll have three options of very popular rapids: Vuonteenkoski, Kaarneenkoski and the river of Niva. The rapids are located just two kilometres away from the Niva House. You may make arrangements with us for fishing licenses and guiding in fishing for beginners. Spinnings and fishing rods can be rented from us.
Hiking tracks		Hiking tracks lead to Finnish forests, rapids, and they start just in the middle of the village. There are two hiking tracks, also with English signs, telling about old tar and log floating tradition. The length of track´s is 3 km and 7 km.
Skiing tracks		In the winter time you will find many ready made skiing tracks starting from the village, experience e.g. in April the lake surface skiing, it´s something you shouldn´t miss.
Lunch/Dinner		You can reserve in Niva House a lunch/dinner for groups more than 5 people. There are seats for 5-50 persons in Niva House.
Location		Guided tours available for groups.   Niva-village is located 34 km away from the center of Kuhmo. So it is easy to visit from our location e.g. the traditional Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival (arranged in late July). More information: Travel services in Kuhmo Infokartta
Events & Happenings

In Niva village		"Elokuun Kuhja", The August Misty Nights´event consists of traditional happenings such as crop harvesting, big rowing boats (you´ll row!), traditional food and beverage, also more modern services available, such as massage, hair dresses etc. Not to forget theatre for children, dancing along a live band...open fire coffees, fishing - An event that offers something to all of us! The real Finnish atmosphere you´ll find seldom else where.
